Ron Korb's group will feature: Ron Korb -flutes, Xiaoqiu Lin - Erhu, Bill Evans- piano, Steve Lucas - bass and Larry Crowe - drums and percusssion

Explore China, Japan and Korea Singing Contest Final

River Rock Show Theatre, Richmond BC

Six contest finalists will compete with one another while performing with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra in this special singing event. Ron will join the orchestra as a guest performer to showcase popular songs from China, Japan and Korea as well as Ron's original compositions, paired with videos that highlight the beautiful scenery of these three countries. This is sure to deliver an unforgettable evening of incredible music and breathtaking visuals.

Hiroshima/Nagasaki Day

The Peace Garden at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W., Toronto

The Hiroshima Day Coalition is organizing the 72nd commemoration of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the Toronto City Hall Peace Garden on August 6. The theme of the commemoration is “Humanity First: Ban the Bomb!” The keynote speaker will be the Hon. Douglas Roche, former Senator, MP, and Canadian Ambassador for Disarmament. Mayor John Tory will issue his Hiroshima Day Proclamation and the atom-bomb survivor Setsuko Thurlow will read excerpts from the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Declarations. The annual peace commemoration begins at 6:30 pm with live music by the Isshin Daiko Musical Ensemble and Grammy-nominated flutist Ron Korb. The Pax Christi Chorale and the political satirical group, the Raging Grannies, will also perform. At the close of the commemoration, Ron Korb will lead the audience to a lantern ceremony in the city hall reflecting pool. Community information tables and Origami paper crane and lantern making will begin at 4:30 pm. From August 3 to 9, the Hiroshima Nagasaki Day Coalition will also be holding a large exhibit of paintings by survivors and photographs of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings inside the Toronto City Hall Rotunda, 100 Queen St. W.

Ron Korb in Concert at St. Paul's

Grammy nominee, multiple award winner, internationally renowned flautist, and great entertainer Ron Korb returns to St. Paul’s on Saturday, May 13th at 7:00 pm. Ron will be joined by Aidan Mason – guitar, Wendy Solomon – cello, and Xiaoqiu Lin – erhu. Tickets are only $25.00 and are available through the church office at 905-853-7285 or after Sunday services. He promises that it will be different from his previous shows at St. Paul’s.

Ron never fails to delight an audience with his stirring original musical compositions, interesting and entertaining stories, and his spellbinding abilities to perform on any of his collection of over 250 flutes from around the world! With over thirty CDs released on various labels, and over 25 very successful international tours to his credit, he has a huge world-wide following of fans.

Also joining us for the first time at St. Paul’s will be Xiaoqiu Lin playing the erhu –also known in the West as the “Chinese Violin or Chinese two-string fiddle”, which is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument. It can be played as a solo instrument as well as in small ensembles and large orchestras. The history of Erhu can be tracked back to the instrument introduced into China more than a thousand years ago.
